REGISTRATION FOR ALL FLEET/CLASSES IS NOW ONLINE

1. OVERVIEW: The Midwinters Festival will continue its tradition of bringing together World Cup Pros, Olympic Class Competitors, Beginner sailors and all other levels in between. We will have classes for all skill levels and type of equipment – A Fleet / Sport Fleet / Workshop Fleet (learn to Race) // and many Youth, Junior and Kids classes to choose from along with Masters and Seniors. Whether you like racing a long, hybrid or short board, we have a class for you. The 2010 event will include the Kona North Americans and the Bic Techno 293 North Americans which will be a qualifier for the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in Summer of 2010.

2. VENUE: Racing will be held in the Banana River with launching from Kelly Park in Merritt Island, FL.

3. RULES: The Midwinters will be governed by the ISAF Rules (2009-2012) and the rules of Formula Windsurfing (as of 1/1/10)– with regard to the Pro & A Formula Fleets – the specified sail size limitations and the listing of approved production equipment. New Weight Divisions will be used if more than 20 competitors in a division. Go to www.formulawindsurfing.org As in past years – the Sport Formula Fleets allow for ANY production shortboard – but is still limited to One Board/3 Sails.

Kona One Design: Must use a Kona Style board and a 7.4 Zenith sail for all competitors under 85Kg. Mast and booms are open but boom must be aluminum and mast no more than 75% carbon. Racers over 85Kg may race with a 9.0 Zenith sail and will be scored separately if attendance is big enough.

4. THE EXPECTED FLEETS/CLASSES ARE:

A FLEET — FORMULA – Pro/Men/Women/Masters // KONA – Men/Women/Juniors // F.E – Masters/Youth/Juniors // 3/1 LONGBOARD //TECHNO 293 – A Minim (E) shall be under the age of 15. (Born in or after 1996 and not later than 1999) / A Junior (D) shall be under the age of 17. (Born in or after 1994 and not later than 1998) / An Open (C) shall be over the age of 17. (Born in or before 1993)

SPORT FLEET — FORMULA – Men/Women/Masters 35+/Grandmasters 55+/Juniors Fun Time 7.5 // HYBRID – Adult/Junior // KONA // LONGBOARD 7.5

KIDS FLEET (INSIDE SMALLER COURSE) — HYBRID 6.0 (Will be divided by ages and sail sizes if adequate participation)

THURSDAY, MARCH 4TH – TAGGING OF A FLEET FORMULA RACING GEAR THROUGHOUT DAY // MANUFACTURERS DEMOS STARTING AT 10AM -WINDSURFING & SUP // CHECK IN AND LATE REGISTRATION AT CALEMA SHOP – 2PM-6PM (ALL A Fleet competitors MUST check in by 6pm) // WELCOME RECEPTION – 5:30-7PM // A FLEET SKIPPER’S MEETING (MANDATORY) – CALEMA SHOP – 7:00PM

FRIDAY, MARCH 5TH — FIRST POSSIBLE WHITE FLAG – A FLEET — 10AM // DEMOS-THROUGHOUT DAY // CHECK IN AND LATE REGISTRATION for SPORT/WORKSHOP FLEETS — 10AM-NOON AND 2PM-6PM // EVENING SOCIAL 5:30PM-7PM – CALEMA SHOP

SATURDAY, MARCH 6TH – LAST CHECK-IN/LATE REGISTRATION SPORT/WORKSHOP 8:30-9:30AM // FIRST POSSIBLE WHITE FLAG – A FLEET – 9AM // SKIPPER’S MEETING – SPORT/KIDS/WORKSHOP – 10AM // DINNER PARTY – 6PM (location TBA)

SUNDAY, MARCH 7TH – 1ST POSSIBLE WHITE FLAG – 9AM // LAST POSSIBLE START 5:00PM // AWARDS CEREMONY – following final race – tentatively 4:30pm

6. COURSES: Courses for all Fleets/Divisions will be displayed at the Skipper’s meeting.

7. ENTRY FEES: A FLEET – $125 by Feb. 19th (after Feb. 19th – $145) // SPORT/WORKSHOP – $115 by Feb. 19th (after Feb. 19th – $135) // Juniors/Kids (non-A Fleet) $98 by Feb. 19th (after Feb. 19th – $113)

8. CHARTER BOARDS: A limited number of Boards will be available for charter. So far, we have a commitment for 20 KONA boards from Exocet – with complete one-design set ups. KONA Charters will all be directly with Steve Gottlieb at Sandy Point Progressive Sports. We will also have Bic Techno 293’s – directly from Bic Sport // F.E charters from Starboard.  Charter boards will be available for PURCHASE after the event – check them out!

9. SAIL NUMBERS: All sailors must carry unique sail numbers. Those registered with US Windsurfing should have their registered number displayed on all sails. Numbers must be a minimum of 10 in. height and displayed with numbers on the starboard side higher than on the port side. Alpha numeric numbers are preferred. Recommended are either country/numeric or state/numeric designations. –TO ORDER SAIL NUMBERS You can place your order in advance. Orders for sail numbers will be accepted ONLY through 2/19/10 – so please order EARLY! We can have them shipped to you or have them waiting for you here at the event. Order online today!

10. HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, GEAR TRANSPORT AND TRAVEL: Our HOST HOTEL is the RADISSON RESORT AT THE PORT. They will be the site for our Saturday evening banquet and are also sponsoring the event. They are located just across the river from our sailing site and are offering a discounted rate of $109 on 2-Queen (sleeps up to 4) or a single King room.

11. JUNIOR RACE CLINIC: RACING CLINICS WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO THE MIDWINTERS! – US Sailing Master Instructor Trainer and Coach Tinho Dornellas and US Sailing Instructor Trainer and Junior Coach John Dornellas team up for an International Junior Racing Clinic, March 1st and 2nd.  Clinic will include training to get the juniors ready for the Techno 293 North American Championships as well as other classes.
Video analysis, technique and tuning, board handling drills and starting drills.
Lunch provided both days.
